Mom and Her Chicks

Every October, Mom and her chicks (Ervin, Sharon, and Kim) would take a trip, just the four of us. Our first trip was the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta (mom loved hot air balloons). We had a blast, watching the mass ascent and the night glows, getting lost more than once (our nickname became the misdirections), enjoying each others' company and celebrating that we had an awesome mom and she thought the same about us. Nashville, San Juan Island, Asheville, Lake Tahoe were next. We treasured these times together. When I was going through Mom's files, I found a reflection she had written.
Witnessing the Hot Air Balloons go up in the air was like looking at angels floating in the sky. It was surreal. As I was reflecting on my life I found out how much love surrounded me. I know that I am now being rewarded for all those days I spent loving and raising Ervin, Sharon and Kim in their younger days. They are now my adult kids that are constantly there for me and shower me with their love. Going on this trip with my three best friends made me feel so appreciated of the love and support I always showed them. A mother could not experience more love than that – to be surrounded by her kids that laugh together, cry together, get lost together, eat together, play together, go to a movie together, run in the rain together.
