JD is whole again in heaven…

November 26, 2023
Mama sent a message very early on Sunday November 19th 2023 and it read, “Today's ODB is about me. Help me thank the good Lord“

After reading what she was referring to, attached to this story, I thought- “well…this is more about me than it is about Mama because I am JD’s daughter ” The writer of this post wrote about her dad, & I can identify with what she’s written.

Our Papa in his last few years got robbed of some parts of his memory, speech and control over body movements, by a neurological disease. God’s great love enabled especially Mama to get up to face one day at a time. Because of the Lord’s great love, our family was not consumed; we held on to Faith, Hope & Love. We celebrated many birthdays, Christmases and other events together. We learnt to cherish each moment & opportunity God graciously gave us. God kept us trusting. His love was, & still remains, greater than our trials & challenges. Hallelujah!

We, like Karen Huang, saw God’s provision in the kindness of relatives & friends, the wise counsel of doctors, nurses & other health professionals, and financial provision from God’s own limitless resources.

We know that Papa is whole again with His Maker. God said it; we believe it. JD’s legacy lives on!

If you're currently in a season of life which makes you feel like you can't go on, be encouraged! You may be struck down, but you won't be destroyed. God is faithful and very able to carry you through. Because of God's great love & His mercies which are renewed every morning, keep hope alive. You'll be fine :)

It's our turn...

"I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work." John 9:4

We must work the works of Him Who sent us while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work...so help us Lord. Amen.

Eleven-Eleven! :) 11-11-2012

November 11, 2021
Eleven-eleven remains in my memory as one of the last and largest gatherings of Papa, his family and friends at Wegbe-Kpalime. It was the Centenary Celebration of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church at the place Papa called 'home' and no one would take away the joy, excitement and preparation for this grand occasion. Papa was very happy - clad from head to toe in the anniversary cloth and ensured that all his family members had sewn and were wearing outfits made in the same cloth too. Children, in-laws, nephews, nieces, friends from church and whoever would listen had been told months ahead about this very-important occasion, and many had been invited to attend. I remember how some of us who had to do a return-trip that Sunday converged at my sister Emefa's home before 6am and were ready to set-off to Wegbe - all of us fully aware that we had to arrive way before the service itself began (Papa was not one to arrive late at Church services). My very good friend and maid-of-honour (Ayele), and my brother-in-law (Max) also joined in - to share in the joy of this 'Holy Village' we had said so much about. You can be certain that enough 'noise' had been made about the celebration! :)

Looking back at pictures from that day and remembering all that went on, I have smiles on my face. :) Papa was a 'GUY' - he knew how to let people share in his joys, and good news was never something to be 'hidden'. Good news had to be shared. Interestingly, today, i interacted for the first time with someone called 'Nyanyuie' - (i.e. 'good news' in Ewe).

Papa's legacy truly lives on! Life is more beautiful with relationships and we should all strive to build many impactful, truthful, well-meaning and lasting ones. May we shun the things that divide us and embrace the things that unite us. May the Lord enable us to let go of the things that have hurt us in the past and embrace a fresh start and a godly perspective on all issues. Amen.

Love God! Love people! 11-11 memories.

Last year on May 14th, 15th & 16th, a Pre-burial Service, a Burial Service, and a Memorial and Thanksgiving Service were held in honour of the late Presbyter Jeremiah David Addo....Papa, JD, Torga, Torde, Wofa, 'Monday', etc :)

We are grateful to God for all He's seen us through- good times, challenging moments, joys, tears, mountain-top experiences, times in the valleys, etc....we thank Him for them all, because we trust His Word which says that 'all things work together for our good '....and 'in all things, we should give thanks'.

This year, same weekend...by God's Grace...One-Year Memorial activities & services came off. Very early in the morning of Saturday May 14th 2022, family and friends of Papa joined the EPCG Congregation at Wegbe-Kpalime for 'Ndii S)leme" (ie a 'dawn' church service or a congregational 'morning devotion). Rev. Semenyo Allan-Bossman explained that "One Year" activities were instituted to afford families the opportunity to review what happened during funerals, reflect on lessons learnt, reconcile broken relationships, offer forgiveness for offences, apologize to one another, see if there are any financial debts outstanding to be paid, and ultimately, to thank God for seeing families through a whole year. After the Service, the congregation moved in a procession to the cemetery to unveil JD's tombstone, sing and offer prayers for the family. The rest of the day was spent on various other family activities and we thank God for seeing us through it all.

On Sunday May 15th 2022, a Thanksgiving Service was held in honour of Papa at the EPCG Wegbe-Kpalime. The sermon for the day focused on love for one another - without discrimination....one of the virtues Papa lived by.

Today, exactly a year after Papa's Memorial & Thanksgiving Service was held, we wish to thank God for His goodness and mercy that have kept all of us till now.

Thank you to you all....our amazing family and friends, our in-laws, Church families, work colleagues, neighbours, etc (the list is endless!). We appreciate all your help, support, prayers, presence with us, words of comfort, advice, encouragement, gifts, donations, time, acts of service, etc. Thank you for being with us last year. Thank you to those who helped us this year also. Thank you....thank you...thank you.

May God bless and keep us all...& may we live lives that glorify God and impact lives positively.

JD's family is grateful to you!
