Biography
Ekofo Balusa also known as Jerry was a loving, humorous, and ambitious father and grandfather. Papa Jerry was born Jerry Ekofo Balusa on the 22nd of October, 1955 in Emengeye, Momkoto Village in the province of Mbandaka, in Zaire now Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Papa Jerry, Dad, Granddad & Capitaine Oiseau Blue (Captain Bluebird in French, a popular name he was fondly known as, in the Congolese community) – By whatever name you may have called him, he was an amazing man, humorous, individual full of wisdom, bravery and a strong sense of duty.
He was born to the late Papa Balusa George Nkoy his father an exemplary character in the prvince, and his mother Maman Liasa Bernadette Belongo- a devoted wife, and caring mother; who demonstrated sterling zest having raised plenty children while being a proficient homemaker.
He had his early education in one of the Mbandaka Province primary schools, and later went on to attend university in Kinshasa and Bukavu after he completed his secondary education.
He obtained his Masters in Economics and afterwards attended the Military Academy EFO (Ecole des formations des officers, in Kananga – KASAI).
He went on to progress in his military Career, getting to the rank of Capitaine, and also being responsible for the logistics, as the financial director of Military Logistics in the Military Base Kokolo, Military Barrack- his was in a position of importance showing his great sense of unquestioned belief, duty, courage and a passion for purpose while he was fulfilling his role diligently serving his motherland and nation.
He left Zaire for the UK and arrived in 1995, where he survived by his 7 children and 1 adopted child, he loved them all dearly and, most people in the community knew him, always wearing a smile. The last years of his life were spent happily with his partner the Late Maman Helen Ngoy, until he passed on the 2nd of February , 2021.
