Am remembering Jordan fondly as I am still using some of the art supplies he left to me and several of his artist buddies. He inspired us in how he transcended his pain by engaging in art making well into his decline.

I love the photo of Jordan as a you man. He seemed to me always in touch with his youthful passions. Age and illness were a hindrance but never dimmed his inner light. Jordan is still an inspiration for me.

I was thinking last evening as I rolled up "my" yoga mat after a yoga class that I still miss Jordon. The yoga mat I use is ready to be discarded, it's getting worn out, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it; it used to be Jordon's yoga mat and it's one on the few links I have left to my old friend and coworker.

I've missed Jordon over the past year: going to movies at Eckerd College on Friday evenings, talking about art--my art, his art, great art other than my art and his art. Or just sitting and taking about this and that. He has left a void in my life.

I have a joyful memory of sharing cocktails with Jordon during one of his breaks from chemo. He embraced life and found ways to escape the challenge of a terminal illness. We laughed and in a sardonic way he made lite of his treatment. He had an amazing constitution and will and could drink us under the table, what a character. Sure do miss him.

I really miss you Jordon. I found a new job doing activities for adults with developmental disabilities. One of the tasks is to create meaningful crafts. I was thinking about my often pathetic attempts to create crafts and how, if you were around, I'd call you and ask for suggestions. You always loved to help others grow. You were so wonderful and creative and supportive. Love, Sharon

This afternoon Carol Komater and I will be holding a memorial in my garden (weather permitting) for our good friend and co-worker, Jordon. I'll be posting photographs of the event here soon, so stay posted. I miss Jordon already in so many ways.

The aforementioned Dodge convertible - Jordan, Alberta and I left one bright summer day - to go to Atlantic City beach for the day. Of course convertible top down all the way. Spent most of the rest of the day on the beach sans any sunscreen, and were all severely burned. We went to a local pharmacy and bought all the Noxema they had in stock. We all were bedridden for several days.

Jordan at high school graduating age was a whiz at playing chess.
I would study my next series of moves for 15 minutes, he would come back from the kitchen, take a 15 second look and the board, and make his move. Never once in all the games we played together did I ever win a single game.  Kudos to Jordan.

Jordans graduation from high school - their commencement speaker was the then vice-president of the U.S., Alban Barkley. I let him use my newly acquired 1950 Dodge convertible for the graduation evening. He later told me he let his friend Harris drive it and they were running all the traffic lights - red or green - at an over the speed limit pace. At least he returned it to me in 1 piece

This memorial was created as a tribute to our beloved Uncle Jordon. Many of you know him as a world traveler, philosopher, art collector, businessman, and of course, brilliant, wild, crazy artist. But to us, he was "Uncle." He played with us, brought us treasures, and always made us laugh. We miss him and share in your loss.
