Her Life

Mommy

June 6, 2021
Mommy was the most incredible woman that I have ever known.  She was highly intelligent, audacious and happy. She embraced every day with great joy and excitement.  She loved her family, friends and often strangers with everything that she had.  She loved to take photographs and loved to recount good times of family and friends. She gave her children an incredible life.  I still remember her chopping down Christmas trees in Benin and wrapping presents with news paper to give us a wonderful holiday. She had a photographic memory and remembered everything and everyone.  Mommy was very close to her family, most especially her nieces and nephews.  We would often joke around with her ans ask how her daughters Rose and Unoma were.  She had an incredible relationship with her brother John.  She was so proud of and loved all of her children and grandchildren.   Mommy had an incredible capacity to love and to share her life.  She treated everyone she met with great love, acceptance, and respect.  Everyone who knew her called her mama.  The last time I saw mommy a few days ago, she had a wonderful smile on her face as she frequently does.  She is home with the lord and even though our heart breaks, she will want us to remember the good times.  Mommy is a perfect example of beauty, grace, intelligence and honesty.

Religion

Coming from a very strong Catholic family, she is very un-assuming Catholic devoted to the tenets of the Catholic Church.  Her grand father Pa Thomas Ogoli Okolo was the 1st Catholic Convert in Asaba.  Justina had ups and downs in her life, but she believed that God is greater than our problems.

She socializes with everyone especially with the poor and under privilege; she is always cheerful even when she has some heart breaks.

Her Interest

June 5, 2021
Anyone who knows her will attest that she is very passionate about photography; she goes about with her camera capturing everybody and events. She had a large consignment of albums and photographs of every Okolo family member.  They often come to her for photographs dating as far back as 40 years ago.

Mummy loves to read; she reads very widely all types of novels, newspaper and anything on print.

She is attuned with current events; she likes watching the news or listening on the radio. As a matter of fact, her main subjects are teaching of current events around the world, including current and past events in Nigeria.  She is very much abreast with events around the world and practically sleeps with her radio on so she won't miss local and international news.
