"It's okay if you keep a copy of this. Write it down so you will remember it. I met your father, Jan, at a party. He took off his tie because he hated wearing the damned things. I thought he was so very handsome and a nice guy. So I saw where he laid his tie down and took it. I wanted to meet him. 

This is where Stephanie gets her eyes from. Steph had blue eyes when she was a baby. Her grandfather had blue eyes too, and boy were they ever blue and just gorgeous! James Nelson Solomon was a good looking guy. The classiest of the Solomon men, for sure. And sweet and smart! Who knows what he would have been if he had not died when he was only 20 years old! 

Anyway, so I got the tie, and the rest is history. I got his phone number and called him so that I could meet him to return his tie. I returned the tie and then some. And that's how Jan came to be born."
