One of the most impressive facets to Ludy (in my opinion) was her ability to speak two languages!  Ludy was fluent in both English and Tagalog!  I remember first meeting Ludy and being so impressed with her ability to, not only speak English, but then turn around and take a phone call in her native Tagalog.  I often times think about how overwhelming it must have been to come to a new country and flip to speaking an entirely new language.  I think this, yet again, illustrates Ludy's resilience and her strength.  I feel like I would be crying on a park bench with a Tagalog-English dictionary, but not Ludy!!  She worked her tail off to learn to speak English and even went on to a very successful career in cosmetology.  I wish I would have learned more than just the swear words in Tagalog- definitely an opportunity missed!
