ForeverMissed

Marcia Lynne Hunt (Marchese), a passionate activist, dedicated educator, loving mother and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly April 11, 2013 at the age of 72. A long-time San Francisco resident, and recent transplant to the Sacramento area, Marcia was a formidable woman who knew her mind and wasn’t afraid to share her opinion in any situation.  A feminist who empowered others to find their inner strength, she sparkled in a crowd as she drew one in with her quick wit, sharp intellect and dazzling smile.  A voracious traveler with an eye for the adventurous in both cuisine and locale, she grabbed onto life with a gusto that few possess but all will remember.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jay B. Hunt, her brother David Marchese, her children David and Deborah Hunt and her two grandsons, Hunter and Tyler who loved their Nana beyond words and wish she could have played with them longer.

Memorial services are currently being planned.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Indiana University Foundation for the Frank & Carolyn Marchese and Donna Bye Hunt Scholarships at PO Box 500 | Bloomington, IN. 47402 or a charity of your choice.

To our wife, lover, mother, friend - you will be missed but remembered always in our hearts and minds.

Condolences may be sent to:

Marcia was a tough lady who fought brilliantly for women's rights and for peace. She was dedicated to justice and public service, and accomplished so much for others in her lifetime.  I will miss knowing she was still with us, battling on our side.

A smile that lit up a room! A passion that could not be resisted! Love for life that infected everyone she touched. Christmas dinners on Park Av. where Marcia got all her cousins to do the clean-up. An amazing force even then! God bless you Cousin! Our love, prayers and sympathy to the Hunt / Marchese family.

Seeing the photos of Marcia with my Dad and with her father, my Uncle Frank, I'm back at the long tables, on a Christmas day in Bridgeport Ct. I was dazzled by her then and all the years we lived so far from each other have done nothing to change that. I'll will never forget her, my beautiful cousin Marcia.

Teaching junior high school in Ann Arbor in the mid-60s with Marcia is a fond memory. Marcia always inspired me with her savvy ways of coalescing a group and getting things done. She was opinionated and never feared speaking out—endlessly energetic and, best, great fun. Sending love to Jay and the Hunt family.

Love the early photo of Marcia. It's close to the young, bikini glad, English teacher/lifeguard we met the summer of '64 in Ann Arbor. How blessed we were to have formed a friendship that took us through the years together. Ev and I send our deepest sympathy to Jay, Debbie, David her son, David her brother, Hunter and Tyler.

Our hearts are with all of Marcia's Family at this time. We have fond memories of She, Jay and Her Mom (who loved our hotdogs). They were good customers who became friends at our Puerto Vallarta restaurant "La Fonda Chiles". Marcia was truly a lady of class and grace. She brought friends to our eatery for "Ladies" days and they always brightened our garden. We will miss Her.

I am not sure what to say. Marcia was definitely one of the strongest yet most compassionate and gentle spirits I have known. I am bummed I wasn't able to stay connected over the years. Her influence on me as a young man will always be cherished fondly. My love to you Deb, Jay B and David. -- Sam

I found my first job in San Francisco because I'd met Marcia Hunt, my boss-to-be, while volunteering in Feinstein's campaign for mayor of SF. So I saw how Marcia loved seeing women claim their power & used her savvy, charisma & resonant voice to make that happen. Sharing dinners, talk, & Crete with dynamic duo, Marcia & Jay, has been such a joy! With love to Jay & family from Eve & Bill

Sending love and light to the amazing, inimitable, brilliant Marcia on her journey. A galactic spirit with a heart as warm as the sun. Jay B., Deb, David, boys: how blessed was Marcia by you all, and you by her. A huge loss. I know she will be by your side and on your shoulders, spurring you on to be your highest and best selves. We will miss Marcia immensely. This world has a big gaping hole in it with her absence. We need more brave women, with passion, chutzpah, strong opinions, smarts, and loyal dedication to friends, family, and society (not to mention with great taste!) to even attempt to fill this space. Sending J.B., Deb, and David love from the Solteros. If we can help in any way, let us know.

Sweetheart, It's now been over 8 years since you left to advise your God--who is probably still surprised at what he took on!  For me, you have never left me, except physically.  I go to sleep every night with reveries of our time together.

I never lose track of the fact that you made me the man I am and reach out for you every night when I go to sleep.

Love you now and forever,

Jay B.
