Such a gentle, humble man. I didn't know him well, but his children reflect his character of gentle and quiet spirits. It's a pleasure to know the family and their love for Jesus.

Dear Mrs. Horst and family;

One of my fond memories of Mr. Horst happened in Medford when we visited your home over a weekend. That Saturday night a man scheduled to preach at the Rescue Mission on Sunday morning called Mark to say he would not be able to make it and asked if Mark would fill in for him. “Yes”, he answered. After the phone call, Mark asked if I would like to go with him. “Sure”, I said. So, the next morning, the two of us went, and for the first time, I got to hear Mr. Horst preach! I have never forgotten how he began his message! He said in his loud and confident voice, "Jesus Is Coming Again! Jesus Is Coming Again!" He certainly kept the men's attention as he preached the Gospel and encouraged the men to make sure they were ready for the Lord’s return.

Well, we are truly saddened that, for a time, you will be separated. But Glory Be to God, it will only be for a time, for the day is coming when you will be reunited with him! Oh what a day of rejoicing that will be!

I know this song is your testimony and thought I would send along the words below. As I type it, I am also singing it with you!

In times like these, I have a Savior,
In times like these, I have an anchor.
I'm very sure, I'm very sure,
My anchor holds, and grips the Solid Rock.

This rock is Jesus, Yes he's the One.
This Rock is Jesus, the Only One.
I'm very sure, I'm very sure,
My anchor holds, and grips the Solid Rock!

May the Lord continue to encourage you and be your strength!

Dear Aunt Ruth and Family; Violet and I have so many fond memories of you and uncle Mark when you would come to Ohio in years gone by! It was always a highlight to be with you!. One could never get down in the dumps with your vivacious character and uncle Marks contagious smile!
And as the years passed you were often in our thoughts!
The Horst reunion at your place in Medford was definitely a highlight, and a time we still talk about and cherish.
We want to express our deepest sympathy in your loss! May God be with you as you move forward.
with sincere love for each one: William and Violet (Bucher) Bear

My memories go back a long long way... to my childhood when us kids along with a lot of the CMA kids would go up to the Horst's and play in the fields behind their house. There was always lots of food, good times, and Mark was often the LOUD voice of reason in the crowd. Have to laugh here..... Now Markie you are in heaven enjoying your new life. I know Ruthie misses you something awful, but I know she'd want you to be no other place. So until you meet again we will try to love on her as much as we can, it will never be the kind you gave her... but she won't be left to her own devices (cause you know she'd just cause trouble). Thankful and prayerful that Jesus comes back for the rest of us really soon..... Until then... have a great time up in heaven cause when we get there we'll be having more fabulous times. Love and bunches of angel hugs  Chash
