Mehmood Ul Hassan was a Social Scientist with a doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from University of Bonn, Germany. He also holds an M. Phil in Agricultural economics from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Additionally, he holds a post-graduate diploma in Human Resource Development and Planning from Growth Dynamics University Institute of Rotterdam University in the Netherlands. His research interests include capacity development, inter- and trans-disciplinarily in agricultural research, institutional reforms and policy-practice interface.
Mehmood has been working at World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) as the head Capacity Development Unit since 2012. Prior to joining ICRAF, he worked at the Center for Development Research of Bonn University, Germany (2008-2012), International Water Management Institute’s West Africa, Central Asia and Pakistan offices (1995-2007), and for the Government of Pakistan (1990-1995) in various research and research management positions.

African Plant Breeding Academy (AfPBA)
University of California Davis, In collaboration with NEPAD (The New Partnership for Africa’s Development) and the African Orphan Crops Consortium, launched the African Plant Breeding Academy in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2013 where ICRAF through Mehmood leadership has beenproviding administrative support to the academy to conduct its programs since 2013. African Plant Breeding Academy goal is to train practicing African plant breeders in the most advanced theory and technologies for plant breeding in support of critical decisions for crop improvement. To date the program has graduated 4 classes of 3 sessions each, with the students coming from all parts of Africa.
UN - Climate Technology Centre and network (CTCN);
ICRAF is a consortium partner to CTCN and Mehmood has been the focal point. Through his leadership ICRAF has conducted several projects for the CTCN, that includes.
