Melody Fletcher was born on February  2 1920  to Eliza and Alec Griffin in Birmingham Alabama There she attended Parker High School where she graduated and went to the Army where she served as an Army nurse .She married Jethro Fletcher in 1944 in Yakima Washington She was deployed to Germany as an Army nurse where she stayed and gave birth to twin daughters Mary Ellen and Abigail in 1956 Mary Ellen passed away when she was 2 days old Then Melody and Jethro came back stateside where she nursed at Swedish Hospital and Goldwater Hospital in New York. In 1962 Mekody and Jethro seperated but never divorced she went on to work in a public school P.S.241 as a teachers aide then went to college first New York City Community  College earned her Associates degree at that time she became a PARA-PROFESSIONAL IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, She stayed very active in Concord Baptist Church for many years She also was a semstress designer where she was co owner in Mitchells  Famous Fashions in Brooklyn New York with her best friend Gloria Mitchell   She went back to school and earned  her Bachelor's  Degree  in early childhood as a early childhood kindergarten  teacher at Public School 316 She graduated SUMMA CUM LAUDE  from Brooklyn College She had 10 grandchildren and 22 great children and 2 great great grandchildren She lived to cook dance create artwork and crafts She died Dec 312005 in Far Rockaway New York. She will be missed forever by family and friends. She was a true inspiration  to all
