I have lots to share but I can't start without breaking down. I'll just quote Alberto Cortez
"Cuando un amigo se va
Queda un espacio vacío
Que no lo puede llenar
Ni la llegada de otro amigo..."
Descansa en paz, Amigo.

Nemo, 17 years was not enough. Your presence, your smile, bear hugs and shenanigans, each time I came in to CB. 17 years was not enough! Road trips with your crazy driving. I could always count on getting car sick, but what I wouldn’t give to experience that again. 17 years was not enough! Hiking, backpacking and camping adventures were always more fun with you. I always felt safe and taken care of. How grateful I am for our last adventure, just one week before you left us. You and I exploring a new trail with hours of talking, laughing, stillness and yes, a few more grey hairs. Nemo, 17 years was not enough!

Nemo was and will forever be a trustworthy Hiking, exploring and climbing partner. Always living life to the fullest, with wit and charisma. Always willing to go into a sufferfest of any sorts.
I will miss those long hours drives to new places, the Ragnar races and the jokes around the pit-fire.
I will miss the challenge to climb and hike with you.

Thanks to Nemo I was able to reach new heights. We climbed at Sespe Gorge, Joshua Tree, Tahquitz Rock and other areas. He loved rock climbing and we were the happiest climbers in the world. That is how Nemo lived his life and instilled that sheer happiness to the lucky ones who shared his adventurers. He will live in my heart forever as the grandest of all climbers and my life is the richer for having shared a rope with him.

Nemo was my friend. We met a year ago at 3am in the parking lot of a big hike that we both planned to do solo, and we ended up hiking together. Since then I’ve spent many weekends enjoying Nemo’s company in the mountains. My favorite moments were listening to his stories from when he was a kid as we were tucked into our sleeping bags ready to go to sleep.

He was an incredibly talented hiker/ climber, and he nearly always lead the way. I’ll always remember the small orange fish (Nemo) that was attached to his pack, and how he would pour out some beer on the summit of our hikes to respect the mountains.

It warms my heart to see how many other people enjoyed Nemo’s company. He was a great friend, and I’ll miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend.
