This memorial website was created in the memory of Nicholas Waddell, born on March 6, 1958, and passed away on May 25, 2021. Nick was a loving dad, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He left an enormous footprint in life, and touched others with his fun loving spirit, humor and generosity.
Upon learning of Nick’s passing, many expressed a shared sentiment: Nick was eternally positive and loved life to the fullest. The outpouring of the many thoughtful and beautiful floral tributes and messages I've received demonstrate the power of one person to uplift the hearts of those he came upon. Such was Nicholas Graeme Waddell.
For the last several months, Nick settled into a happy life in beautiful Palm Desert and relished visits from friends and family, and playing golf. His favorite vantage point was from a seat on our back patio that provided a sweeping view of the 15th hole. Often starting the day as early as 4am, Nick reveled in the sun rising just above the mountains and daily visits from "Fred and Mabel", a lovely duck couple that Nick named after his grandparents. Nick and I had many plans and so much still to do as a couple, when I could finally retire. Sadly, time caught up with Nick before I could. My deepest gratitude to those who had the privilege of knowing this special man and contributing joy to his life. We all share the pain of losing Nick too soon. Let us honor his wish that we not mourn his loss, rather, that we celebrate his life well lived.~ Cindy Waddell
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
