Mazi Vincent Nwankwo, popularly known as Nna-Ayi-Bina-Amaudo,  Okpa Mmadu 1 of Arondizuogu or Honourable, as close friend will call him, has touched the lives of many people from far and wide. He is a true hero, a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mazi Okpa-Mmadu is survived by his loving six children, twenty two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mazi has lived his life helping other people from far and the wider community. His was known for his good nature and numerous good deeds. He has lived an exemplary lifestyle and that is why his is known as a Okpa-Mmadu, which is translated as  “someone who nurtures and looks after other people”.  Must people in our community will also refer to him as Nna -yi “meaning our  father.”

I remember as a kid and young adult, people would come from far and wide bearing gifts to present to my dad. Often I would ask, Dad why are all these people coming to our house and thanking you? And he will explain to me gently, that these are people who have come to show their appreciations for a good deed.

Mazi started his professional life in the Colonial era as a British trained Head Teacher. He went to United States of America for further studies. His hard work and professional attitude to work saw him quickly rise to the post of senior supervisor and inspector of schools in the whole of Ideato  Local Government area. He also held post as the Deputy Chairman of Ideato Local Government area until his retirement.

Mazi Nna-Ayi-Bina-Amaudo, held numerous posts in the community. He was the traditional ruler of Ndi Akeme Ikpa Okoli "Eze Okpa-madu 1 of Ndi Aka-eme  Ikpa-Okoli". His is also honourable member of Aka Ji- Ofor (Eze in council) in Arondizuogu as a whole.  Mazi has held numerous positions in the church as an adviser and member of the knight of St John. His endeavours and life time achievements are numerous to mention them all.

His is a true Hero. What is a Hero you may ask?  “A Hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired for his courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities” Mazi Okpa-Mmadu fits all the above definition.

I will summarise his life as well spent and a very happy life. He has always been a bubbly and affectionate father to all his children and the community as a whole. I will say, a true gem is lost and we will continue to miss you Papa, our Super Hero.  May your gentle and kind spirit rest in perfect peace.
