Abode of humbleness

June 20, 2019

Looking back, two decades ago I met with Dr. Mehta at the University of Miami Medical School. He was one of the few faculties, who cared to talk to a postdoc. Since that first chance meeting, we spent countless, but never enough, hours discussing everything under the sun. I may never know, why, but, he took me under his wings and showed that life exists beyond the lab.

“Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda is the greatest physical gifts, I ever received from him. Oh boy, this book has positively affected my life in countless ways. Two decades later, still this is my coffee table book. Dr. Mehta, thank you for being such a caring person. We miss you dearly. RIP!

“For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one. In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond; And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring. Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity”. - Kahlil Gibran

We love you very much.

Like many of you, I am still not able to accept that my beloved brother and friend Parmender ji is not here. A pure soul on his journey to detachment with self realization. His favorite Bhajan was a stuti by Adi Shankaracharya - ChidanandroopShivohumshivohum, truly reflects who he was and It means “I am Shiva”. It reminds us of our oneness with the absolute, the transcendent, the ultimate reality - the truth.

The nature of Shiva is acceptance, we may believe whatever we want, do whatever we like but so long as we have devotion and love in our heart we will merge, when the time is ripe into oneness, that is free from suffering and pain. My brother truly represented this Mantra in his life.

He was kind, caring, full of positivity, and alwaysready to serve. His biggest quality was that he made everyone feel good about themselves. There is no better wealth greater than contentment, no victory greater than controlling a turbulent mind, no power greater than universal love, and no attainment greater than self realization.

I am having difficulty to explain my feelings for a great soul, my brother, a close friend. My dear brother, you personified serenity and contentment. On personal note, he always made me feel special, supported me throughout professionally and personally.  All I can say that he may have gone from sight, but never from our hearts.

ॐ शान्ति।

I miss you

You were always there when i needed advise; an elder brother willing to give time no matter how busy you were. kindest person i have ever met. Yes we were the ‘pahadiya’ from the Himalayas. I am stunned don’t know what to do- just the kind of time i would come to you.
