His Life
February 16, 2021
My brother Pete, my sister Dawn and I were raised by our mom in Indiana until 1968.  Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to move to Ohio to live with our dad and step-mother.  Although we loved our dad, this move was very hard on us and bonded us for life.  Pete went into the Army 6/29/1972 and trained to be a diesel mechanic while stationed in Germany.  Not long after he was discharged 5/18/1978 he had a bad motorcycle accident. He was in the hospital for three months and lost the partial use of his left arm, so he could no longer be a diesel mechanic.  He then became a cook and was very good at it.  He cooked in many different establishments, including a hotel in Mansfield, Ohio where he prepared a meal for Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas.  Marlo Thomas asked for Pete to come out to their table and they told him how much they enjoyed the meal.  He cooked until he couldn't stand on his legs long anymore due to the pins and rods that were placed in his leg when he had the accident.  He then became a truck driver and really liked it.  He moved to Arizona in 2003 where he met his wife Lily Vasquez Torres.  They married 2/15/2005.  His marriage to Lily was probably the happiest I ever saw my brother.  He then started to drive a bus for a college which he enjoyed and really liked his co-workers.  He drove this bus until he passed 8/1/2020 to Covid.  We will miss him and love him forever.
