Well Dad, it's been a year since you departed. I like to think there's a Yacht Club bar in heaven where you are enjoying the company of friends. You made a big impact on this earth, particularly in Corpus Christi. Your friends at KEDT are forever grateful. God's speed, Dad. Put in a good word for me!

As a teacher, I appreciate the impact parents have on their children's view of the 'possible' in life. My parents always taught me 'noblesse oblige', that we should give back to the community. That is probably the core value I received growing up. I have to add, however, that my dad simply assumed that I could do anything I put my mind to, and he communicated that message to me- both directly and indirectly- my entire life. I never thought that, because I was a girl, I would be limited in my choice of work or vocation. Indeed, he continually challenged me to reach higher and to be a lifelong learner. Thanks, Dad, for instilling that vision of the possible in me.

David, heard about Bob during Thanksgiving and I wanted to express my love for the guy. Nothing but sweet, fun, happy memories came back when I heard. We had such an idyllic childhood in good old CC and he was a big part of mine. From the football fields that he coached us on to the Cotton Bowl trip was a huge influence on me. He was one of the most positifve, energetic father figures I have ever known. It was great to see him at my Dad's 80 th and we got to visit quite awhile. I just can't explain how sentimental I have become over this news. Just great memories flooding in. Please express my condolences to Nancy and Anne. I'm sure all is well as we remember the great Bob Wallace! I want to send my condolences to Nancy. Nancy and Bob Wallace were two of the ‘pillars’ of Corpus Christi when I moved here. I remember you both from the parties at the art museum, as well as his serving on the Board of the Art Museum. I was sad when you all moved, and now doubly so with Bob’s passing. Nancy, he was a wonderful man and a great husband, and quite a ‘dapper Dan’, by the looks of the photos on line! I am so sorry for your loss.
Best Regards,
Michelle Locke

As a friend of David's from childhood, it was always fun to be around the Wallace family. What a milestone that Mr.Wallace is no longer with us, he will be missed by so many. I have wonderful memories of Mr. Wallace at the yacht club and dinners with the Wallace family especially as a teenager since we were treated like adults. Conversation was always stimulating (I often wished I had a dictionary at hand) and great fun. Mr. Wallace was a wonderful father too, David is good evidence of this.

Blissie Blair's Doggerel

December 6, 2013

This was written and presented by Blissie Blair on the occasion of his 80th birthday. I've kept it ever since. Thank you Blissie for this wonderful tribute!

Horray, horray for Bob's big day
all cheer on this occasion
From coast to coast, from hills to bay
all send a loud ovation

Bob roams the world with skill and style
He makes us laugh most hearty
For friends he goes the extra mile
He's the toast of every party

Oh Bob can shoot and Bob can fish
He proved it so abroad
And all the Brits most ardent with
Was not to feel so awed

He charmes us with his story telling
His loyal friends are countless
Judging wine and food, excelling
Kudos, cheers are boundless

He knows his art, his music too
and far excelled at Wharton
His tastes are chic, he is most U.
He's Athens more than Spartan

THere's much to say about his works
His role with Pub TV impossible to follow
Community he never shirks
He's good and great, our own revered Apollo
