I never knew what the future held, never knew she was biting back the tears and never knew just how bad the ending would be. I remember our last Christmas, all the children slept in the sitting room as we told jokes to one another. All the parents went to sleep upstairs, auntie Sidonie was in my bed sound asleep. When the morning came we exchanged gifts, it was a magical moment. Her last Christmas. I thought the battle was over a long time ago, I didn't even think about it, not until it was too late anyway. Our family visited theirs for the last time, we danced and ate and talked all night long till it was time to go home. I hugged her tightly and waved goodbye thinking - I'll see u later. I guess I'll be waiting longer than I thought. She was silent, suffering for us, now it's our time to do the same for her. Her body may be passed on but her soul.... Forever in our hearts x
