A year has passed…
Shall I compare time
And fond memories of you
To a summer’s day
The love and counsel of a Big Brother
Gentle and temperate
Through days of want and plenty
How time the wound has failed to heal
Too brief and fast
Tears in eye, glazed clouds reflected,
A gold candle’s flicker dimmed
And every day, week and month
Long gazes and want for stare,
By chance, if only, a bad dream could be
How time the wound has failed to heal
Life’s path, even sand, rocks and thorns
Eternal summer of thine shall not fade
Nor shall I lose possession of memories
And never shall Death shall say
Thou wander’st in his shade
For you live in those who loved you
This past year, and as long as breathe I or eye can see
