Stanley Nathaniel Bailey, Stout, Mass Stanley or Teteh as known by his many friends and family, was a giant of a man in spirit and confidence.
Born in Clarendon in 1936 he moved to Hopewell, Manchester as a young man where he met and married his wife Nellie Webb, his wife of 58 years.
A father of eight girls and one boy, Mr. Bailey was a father figure and mentor to many other children during his lifetime. Stanley loved his children more than life itself. He was a protector and champion to his girls, and a great example to his one son Stanley Albert Bailey.
While he was not a formally educated man, Mr. Bailey ensured that all of his children had an opportunity to pursue whatever educational passion they desired. His children all made him proud with their many and varied professional and life achievements.
He was a symbol of strength and harmony in the community of Hopewell. Mr. Bailey and his friends were instrumental in bringing water to the community of Hopewell many years ago. He was also instrumental in building the roads leading to Hopewell and bringing electricity to the community of Hopewell.
He was a true community leader who considered the needs of others above his own.
To Mrs. Nellie Bailey, Shirnett Bailey, and the rest of the family I offer my deepest condolence and prayers. Remember Psalm 34: verse 18. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
In Empathy,
Hon. Audley Shaw, MP for North East Manchester and Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce.
