Hard to believe it is five years passed already. Valda was one of my favourite people, always spoke her mind, but in a tactful way, and if anyone spoke out of turn, she would give the Valda look, eyeing the person over her glasses... and silence would follow. Valda, you are missed, and never forgotten.

My condolence to the family.I can never forget Valda's (aka Tit) kindness and beautiful smile. Her kindness, generosity and compassion has left a tremendous impact on those she touched. My fondest memories of Tit included her being there when my family was in need and being the best nurse I every had when my son was born at Peel Memorial.

Rest in God's never failing hands. Our lost is Heavens gain.

Mrs. Rickett's comes from a very special and important line of Black Women. In unfamiliar company she keeps her own counsel, but observes intently. Among peers she is sharp, strong-minded and often right. With friends, she can shows a very dry, very sly sense of humor. If she smiled my way, I felt that smile was well earned. When I was young, I never really thought of her as anything other than "Mom's Friend". But one day, when I was having a hard time in my 3rd year of university, she offered me some sharp, precise and extremely kind words of encouragement. She showed that she cared, and the only response to that was to pull myself together and get the job done. She believed in me, and so from then on I strive hard to life up to that belief. I'm am sad that she's passed, but I am so grateful that she was here.

Sincere condolences to everyone in Valda's family. I worked with Valda for many years @ Peel Memorial Hospital and continued to see her in our retirement years. Over the years she provided excellent care to so many new Moms & their infants. She was always a strong part of the nursing team and respected by all members of the health care team.

My deepest condolences to your entire family. I can not say all I would like about Valda as I would be typing for days! Valda taught me so much especially as a new Nurse, she was so knowledgeable, caring and truly passionate about Nursing and caring for patients. Valda knitted the most beautiful quilt for my first born which was almost 8 years ago, and since then I have passed it down to my 4 year old twins. The quality of the quilt almost 8 years later is impeccably, just like Valda character.
RIP dear Valda!

To all of the Family, My sincere condolences to you on your loss. Valda was highly respected and much loved with her nursing colleagues. When you worked with her, you knew details with the patients were done correctly, and even though sometimes work became super busy, she was always there when you needed her. Always calm, always caring. If staff started complaining when it became very busy, Valda would turn around , and look at us over her glasses. Everyone would become silent, and get back to work. Valda had "spoken". We loved her!
