William H. (Bill) Morton Jr. 1965 - 2021

February 22, 2021
William (Bill) Harrison Morton Jr., age 55, of Chicago, Illinois peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 to be with his Lord and Savior.

William (Bill) Harrison Morton Jr. was born October 12,1965 at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first born child to proud parents Audrey Lockhart Morton and William Harrison Morton Sr. He was the oldest of 2 children. He brought joy and fun into this close knit family.

Bill attended elementary school at Alexine Learning Center (ALC), a boarding school in LaGrange, Illinois, where he was a standout student athlete in basketball and football. While at ALC, Bill developed a passion for all types of music. He also loved building and painting model cars. He looked forward to going home on weekends to spend time with his parents and brother Craig.  They often took long drives on weekends including trips to Union Pier Michigan and ski resorts in the Midwest.

With the help of one of his ALC mentors and football coach, Bill received a tour of the Mendel Catholic High School campus.  He was instantly drawn to the strong sense of brotherhood among students. After officially becoming a Mendel Monarch, Bill became a member of both the basketball and football teams. After developing many friends and several interests, Bill decided he would forgo athletics and instead focus on his love for music. So he became a Disc Jockey.  Bill worked hard, learned the ropes, and eventually became a featured DJ at many of the renowned bi-Level Mendel parties. Bill and his crew, the Unpredictable Disco Corp. rocked the famous Mendel Gym throughout his high school tenure. Taking his talent to new heights, Bill began playing at several festivals and house parties throughout the Chicagoland area. He was integral part of the early house music scene, alongside DJ “Dewey B.”, and Eric “E-Smooth” Miller.

Bill loved fashion. He would spend most his “side-gig” earnings on fly gear like Gucci belts, Parachute pants and Armani shirts, K-Swiss, to name a few. When he wasn't working in the music scene, he could be found at some of Chicago’s most popular clubs like Sauers, Music Box, The Power Plant & Hero's. He was one of Chicago’s tastemakers and trendsetters.

After graduating from Mendel Catholic, Bill was accepted to the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia. He studied Business Administration his freshman and sophomore years. In 1988, Bill decided to study engineering technology at DeVry Technical Institute in Atlanta. Unsure of his career path, he decided to take a break from school and continued to reside in Atlanta to stay close to friends and enjoy the warm weather. While taking a break from school, Bill began rigorously networking and almost immediately landed a career in the cable industry as a cable technician where he stayed for 20 years. In 2019, he furthered his education and received a certificate in Robotics from BSD Industries. Upon graduation, he immediately landed a position at Dart Container Corporation.

Bill was very close to his younger brother Craig and was simply over the moon when he became uncle to his three beautiful nieces, Sasha, Lola and Sloane. Bill was a fun and caring uncle who enjoyed watching his nieces grow and develop. Bill had love in his heart that he wanted to share with a family of his own. The right person came along in a chance meeting with Kimberly Roberts, a former classmate and cheerleader at Mendel Catholic. After a loving and caring courtship, Bill proposed to Kim on August 3rd, 2020. Together, Bill and Kim immediately began making their wedding plans. They settled on a venue and a wedding date of August 28th, 2021.

William (Bill) Harrison Morton. Jr. made his transition, joining his parents Audrey Lockhart Morton and William Harrison Morton Sr., who preceded him in death. Bill is survived by his brother, Craig Morton; Sister-in-law, Stacey Morton; his beautiful nieces Sasha, Lola, and Sloane Morton; and his fiancé, KimberlyRoberts and her son Kameron.
