Memorial Mass for Ellen Theresa King of Lake St. Louis, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wentzville, MO.A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Heritage of Hawk Ridge Golf Course in Lake St. Louis. In honor of her favorite color, please wear something yellow.

Ellen, 62, passed away late Saturday night, April 13, 2024, in her home.Born September 25, 1961, in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of James Joseph and Maureen Martha McCallon Prendergast.Ellen was a graduate of San Jose State University.She was united in marriage to on October 7, 1983, in St. Louis to Michael Patrick King.This union was blessed with three children: Kathleen, Elena and Matthew.Ellen spent nearly four decades as a hand therapist, rehabilitating children and adults with congenital, traumatic and degenerative conditions of the upper limb.She spent the last seven years developing an innovative breast cancer program that helps women recover physically and emotionally from breast cancer treatment and reconstruction.Ellen was deeply loved by her patients, with whom she was able to share her personal journey and together they learned to cope and heal.She will forever be missed by her therapist and surgeon colleagues who felt lucky to call her their friend.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Mike King of Lake St. Louis; their children: Kate Heath and her husband, Brady, Elena Geery and her husband, Matt, and Matthew King and his wife, Mallory; and eight grandchildren who she was a loving “Lala” or “Yaya” to.Ellen also leaves her parents, James and Maureen Prendergast; three brothers: Michael Prendergast and his fiancé, Valarie, Dan Prendergast and his wife, Ellen, and Jim Prendergast and his wife, Ann; 18 nieces and nephews, plus many more that call her “Aunt Ellen”, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Ellen will be dearly missed by so many.

In Lieu of flowers, Ellen’s last wishes were to support her favorite charities in her honor.The charities are St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, or Siteman Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the Celebration of Life or links are provided below.
