...words fail me at this time to write parting words about this dynamic and domestic energetic man.

Wow, to say Id is done on this side?

Jovial and selfless, he wouldn't mind to serve you at occasions. Humility personified. I can't forget the ride we had in a truck, with him behind the wheels.

A general just laid down his weapons but his victories testify after him.

Adieu.

Uncle Idowu. It still feels like a dream. I remember the last time we saw in Calgary. You are so easy going and soft spoken.

I am happy I continue to see you in Dani and Naomi.

It hurts so much. ThankGod for the impact you made in our lives.
We miss you so much.

I watched your service of songs and loved your video with Naomi. Seeing you dancing and singing made our day.

Till we meet again. Rest on uncle! Heaven has gained an angel.

I have known the family of Chief Lekan Salami pretty much all my life. We have lived in close proximity many times, From Ilupeju in Lagos to Wellesley Court to Rodney Court to Wembley in the UK. We even attended the same schools from Red Rice College in Andover, Hampshire to Shoreham College in West Sussex to Dover College in Kent. Over all these formative years Idowu was well known to be well-mannered and an absolute gentleman. He did very well in studies and was liked very much by all. In later years, even though we saw less frequently, every encounter with him was pleasant and a Happy one. He will be dearly missed by all in my family.

I pray that God grants All the Lekan Salami family the strength and fortitude to bear such a painful loss - Amen.

Rest in Perfect Peace my Brother.

"Tributes are for Heroes."

Mr Idowu Salami was a hero, and he lives on in our hearts. I have pastored and related with many phenomenal people, Mr. Idowu stood out. He was a master strategist, a man of Class and Excellence with Exceptional and Exemplary leadership qualities. His life impacted many including mine during my time as the pastor of HOTR Ibadan. I'm eternally grateful to God that our path crossed.
As a reformational and transformational leader, he constantly raised the standard in the society. He wasn't a man of many words but of great deeds, who prefers his works and results to speak for him.
If there are really good men then Idowu was. A kind hearted man and a lover of people, we will miss him greatly.
Our prayers is with the family at this moment of grieve, that the Almighty God will console and give them the fortitude to bear this colossal and irreplaceable loss, in Jesus matchless name!
May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord till we meet again to part no more.

Life indeed is nothing but a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. It’s hard to believe you are gone . But thanks be to God for the life you lived. It was purposeful, you serve both God and humanity with your calmness, selflessness, love and always willing to help attitude. My childhood memories with you lingers in my mind,You will be greatly missed but am consoled in the fact that heaven gained you ... to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.

Dear Uncle ID,

It still feels like a bad dream that you are gone. You were such an amazing person, the life of the party, a wonderful cook, and a refined family man. The way you got along with everyone is admirable, the love you had for your family is worthy of emulation. You were always so ready to go above and beyond for others and a joy to be around.

Your demise is really a loss to everyone that has come in contact with you, but most importantly, I pray God grants your family (especially Auntie Buss, Dani and Naomi) and friends the grace to get through the pain of losing you.

Continue to rest in the bosom of our lord. You are sorely missed.

Hmmmm,........ Idowu!!! I still can't believe you're gone! I've known you for almost half my life... way back from London, England, our trips to visit your family in Ibadan, Nigeria and our times spent together in Calgary, Canada. I remember when you came to pick me from my in-laws in Ogba to spend the weekend with your family in Ibadan, the look on your face when you saw my 3 big suitcases, you were like, "all these, for just one weekend"?! Oh bless, we had a good laugh and anytime we talked about it. We will miss your BIG smile, your signature dance moves and above all we will miss having you around.

You touched a lot of lives in so many ways and I'm glad your life made a difference for the better to everyone who knew you.

Though we shall all miss you, our consolation is that you are now resting with the Lord, singing and dancing with the angels free from all pain. Rest in peace my brother. Sun ree o.

Dearest Uncle, I still can’t believe I am writing this tribute because of your passing. Words can’t describe this difficult moment but my Joy is knowing Heaven gained an Amazing Soul.

You were a family person, very down to earth and I loved the bond you shared with everyone. You were a goal getter, full of wisdom and very business oriented.
I remember the times you drove me down to Cross Iron Mall in Calgary to purchase stuffs for my fashion business , even helping me carry some of my shopping bags . Uncle Idowu, you were always coaching and advising me on how to make my business more profitable and sustainable.

Dearest Uncle, you were the “life of the party” . You taught us every trending dance steps in Nigeria whenever we were in Calgary to visit, I will sure miss those dances. You were so amazing to me and I will miss you.
As painful and hurting your passing on has been to us, we will take solace in God for comfort and we will be strong for Auntie Buss, Dani and Naomi.

You will forever be in our hearts Uncle Idowu.

Dear ID,

It took me many days to write this, not because I couldn’t find the right words to describe how much of a special person you were but it seems so surreal that you are no longer here. You were more than a brother-in-law to me, you were like a brother I never had. You were funny, kind, generous and the most selfless person you could ever meet. God fearing and a Family Man.
You were so intelligent with a sharp wit and always quick to lend a helping hand.
Your smile always lit up a room, what I’ll give to see that smile again. I miss you terribly but I take solace that you are no longer in pain.
God said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” Mathew 11:28.
Rest Easy Idowu. Forever in our hearts. Forever LOVED! We will take care of Busola, Dani and Naomi and surround them with love just like you always did. We love and need you but GOD needed you more. You are now our Guardian Angel!

Rest In Paradise

I met Idowu one on one around 2018 when we were both aspiring for the seat of a Federal Rep in Ibadan North LG. Idowu was a darling to many in the Local Government and we both worked tirelessly during the 2019 general election for our great party. He was very passionate about politics even though he did not get the ticket to run for his desired position. We became close at that point till I returned to the UK after the election. I remembered calling idowu once after I left and we spoke briefly when he told me he was in Canada with his family. Little did I know it was going to be the last time I would see or speak to a dear brother. Idowu, your demise was a rude shock to me and I am sure a blow to the whole of ibadan North LG and indeed Oyo state. We can’t really question God but we believe you have gone to rest in his bosom. Rest well my dear brother till we meet on the other side. Adieu.....

Idowu, so when we last saw, on my 60th birthday and you stayed longest on zoom with us, you were indeed saying goodbye! It was an odd time for you to join us considering the time difference. But you did and bravely so as we all could not see your pain.

Thank you for the unending love. Thank you for the kindness. Thank you for the unparalleled generosity.
Thank you for everything. May you find eternal peace in heaven, amen!

I first noticed a change in Idowu when our father passed on. He became somewhat withdrawn but oddly enough in a positive way.

He suddenly at such a young age quickly adopted a self reliant approach to life. His development would later become a succinct study for the rest of us.

From marriage to Busola to raising a family with Dani and Naomi, he charted his own path always to the admiration of the rest of us.

The cruel hands of death shall never erase the loving memories of a sibling who stood over and above us all in character. I wish we could have had the chance to say goodbye. I shall truly miss everything about you. Sleep well my dear ID.

I love you more.....that’s how you always ended your 3-5 phone calls everyday. Yes, every single day, my love.

To my love, the most amazing man, my partner, my best friend, my husband, my soul mate. Where do I begin, “iyawo Idowu” like you always call me. I thank Almighty God for the life we shared for 25years....blessed and privileged to have had you for half of my life. Now, all I have are beautiful memories and things you taught me. I shall forever cherish the times we had, my love.

You were always energetic about so many things in life and learnings, there was never a dull moment with you, you were so full of life! The joy of problem solving always lit your face, everyone who knew you always felt your warm glow. At 47years old, hmmm though short, you impacted so many lives.... you just had so much to give but God knows best.

I will miss your phone calls, your witty sense of humour, your animation in response to life. Your unending love for your family. You were so proud of Dani & Naomi. You always encouraged and believed in them and I pray they’ll make you proud.

Thank you for all we shared and experienced. Thank you for the legacies you left on everyone you came in contact with. Thank you for your unflinching support. I never met anyone so selfless like you..... hard working, highly intelligent, kind hearted and an unwavering passion for God. Idowu oko mi, you left a footprint in the sand of time by your good deeds and someday when the pages of my life ends, I know for sure that you were one of the most beautiful chapters. Tribute to my loving Dad - My Angel

My dad was very selfless, he always put the needs of others before himself. He lit up every room he walked into. Even though I didn't see him everyday, he would always call to tell me how much he misses me. He always called me his Angel, but now, he is my Angel in Heaven.

I love you so much Dad and I miss you everyday.

Love you always,

Dear Uncle, Idowu, I am lost for words, my heart aches and I can’t stop thinking about you. I can’t believe I am writing a tribute to you. This all feels like a bad dream. You were so young and so full of life. I continually ask God why it was you that had to go. I know he needed you the most. You were the best at making pancakes and you also made delicious curry. You were very family oriented and there was never a moment where you did not smile. Your smile was just so contagious. The family doesn’t feel complete without you because you were the centre of the show. On top of that you were the best dancer. We had our ups and downs, but I knew you always wanted the best for me. You would always ask how I was doing, and you congratulated me when I made honour roll back when I was in second year of university. I also enjoyed our phone call when you congratulated me for finishing university. I wish you were at my graduation party but as I told you on the phone you were there in spirit. I remember our conversation last summer about how your restaurant sales have doubled and how you didn’t have enough seats to take the crowd to the point where the parking lot is always full. You have inspired me to continue to follow my dreams so I can also become self-employed one day like you. We talked about how you would show me a couple of places in Nigeria and how the next time you came to Canada I would make you my famous jollof. We also talked about how you would use my chicken alfredo pasta recipe for your restaurant. I keep going back to check when you were last active on WhatsApp and I keep reading our conversations. I can’t believe you are gone uncle. This is real life and it hurts. But I know you are in a better place and you don’t have to suffer no more. You will never be forgotten, and I will always love you forever and always. I will continue to keep strong for Aunty Busola, Dani and Naomi. Your legacy will continue to go on Uncle. Until we meet again. Heaven gained a guardian angel.

Rest in paradise

Hmmmm been asking my self what can I write to honor your memory ID Noble, but words have been failing me in the last few days.

ID, that is the name we all call you. The first day I met you and we sat down to discuss, your calmness made me realize that I was where I could express my self to the fullest. Working with you was such an experience that will forever linger in my heart. You proffer solutions with ease, with one important method: attention to details.

ID, every time i think of you, I find it hard to believe you are no longer with us.

Your life was a blessing,
Your memory a treasure
You are loved beyond words
And missed beyond measure .

I was so emotional when I heard the sad news which I will never forget. He was one of the best uncle’s anyone could ask for. He was so kind, sweet, and thoughtful. I remember one of the times he slept over at my house when he would always ask, “Aren’t you hungry?” “What are you going to eat?” I also remember when he taught me how to make his special pancakes which I called “The Best Pancakes Ever” that I used to love. It was our secret recipe. I will miss you very much uncle. May your soul rest in the better place.

ID NOBLE – A MAN AFTER GOD’S HEART

I sit here in disbelief, trying to articulate my words, but honestly, I am lost for words. ID, it is no secret that you knew how to live life to the fullest while embracing every moment, all with a wide smile on your face. You enveloped such commendable qualities, you touched hearts, transformed lives, and strived to do your very best at all given times. Many would describe you as being quiet and reserved, and it is true, but beneath all that was a fun and loving man who was very slow to anger. Idowu, you were all someone could ever ask for in a brother in-law, and then some. You were loving, lovable, disciplined, intelligent, God fearing, prayerful and above all, a noble gentleman. These all contributed to making you the perfect example to emulate.

You were encircled by a great support system; Buss, Dani and Naomi, the Lord will comfort you and be your strength, remain strong. It has been more than a wonderful privilege to have known you, Idowu, this I will never take for granted. In you, I had a brother and a great friend. I am comforted by the fact that you are now in a better place, seated at the right-hand side of our Lord Jesus Christ, watching over us.

I pray that the Lord grant you eternal peace and rest. Idowu, you may be gone, but will never be forgotten.

ADIEU, ID NOBLE!!!

Your memory lives on

The Missing Link

Idowu, my amiable brother of 47 years is the missing link. My heart bleeds, an empty space, my body aches, my entire system is in a state of flux. The last time we physically saw and gave ourselves that brotherly high-five was 18th Dec 2020 at the international airport Lagos. You were off to Canada and I to UK respectively. We checked in next to each other and you promised me all will be well. I believed you as you are a man of strong faith.

Taiwo and I have lost the missing link, our mother the apple of her eyes, Soji, Yomi, Owolabi, a most professional, diligent, loyal and hardworking brother, Busola, Naomi and Dani, the best husband and father anyone can ever ask for, your numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, the best Uncle in the world, your parent in-laws, a most dependable son, Ibadan North Local government, a giver and ray of hope, your colleagues in Ideas House and your staff at Oliver’s, a compassionate and consummate professional / leader, your friends, a great buddy, other siblings a caregiver, the list goes on and on

I’m still in utter disbelief that you are no more. You and I had great plans for our lives and were always sense checking each other. You were the rock behind the numerous successes at Ideas House with your deft ideas and commercial acumen. You were slow to anger, a great team player and motivator.

I miss you ID and hereby promise you that I will carry on ensuring that those lofty dreams you had for your wife and kids most especially will be fulfilled by God’s grace. We will rally round as one family and will make your legacy as great as that of your father.

Love you Idowu but God loves you more

This is not a goodbye, but a thank you

Uncle Idowu, popularly known as uncle ID was the embodiment of positivity. He was cheerful, calm, patient and above all, loving. I can’t even begin to describe what I would give to see your eyes light up again when I walkthrough your office door. There was never a dull moment with you uncle. You were always eager to offer a lending hand and sometimes guide me from the sidelines even if you didn’t have the time, for that I am extremely thankful. You were never a man of many words, but in that you displayed something far greater, being a great listener. In the time I’ve known you, I have learnt so much from you and now I am part of the young lady I am today because of you, for that I am ever grateful. You were a father figure to me, one I held in the highest regard and I am distraught that I cant ever come to your office and talk with you again or ask you countless questions about the trophies in the cabinet. You did more that light up a room when you walked into it and I can say that I am privileged to have known a man as great as you were. Although pain would not be half of an accurate description of my current emotions, I take solace in the fact that you are no longer in pain and you are watching and protecting us from up there, our guardian angel, as it were.

Rest easy uncle, I love you

Since getting the dreaded phone call on Feb 6, 2021 informing me of your passing, it has been like a bad dream from which I was hoping to wake up. Writing this tribute makes reality dawn on me and it is finally time to accept and say good bye dear uncle.

Where do I start from? Knowing you for over twenty years, there is so much to write about you. Your life has been a blessing and a source of inspiration to me. Uncle Idowu you were aways ready to help and to support my dreams as a young girl. I remember the good old days as a teenager tagging along with you and Anti Buss to your Internet cafe, Double click at Favours, Bodija . I also remember with nostalgia Sunday lunch at Grandma’s Dining table in Eleta chatting with you about politics. Our Las Vegas trip for your birthday in February 2019 was so much fun. There are so many fond memories too numerous to recount. The last time I saw you was at Grandpa and Grandma O’s 50th Wedding Anniversary in November 2019 and little did I know that would be the last time I’ll see you.

One of my impactful memories is the role you played when I missed the graduate recruiting test from Pricewaterhousecoopers. You noticed my sad disposition and enquired about what happened and went out of your way to try and help fix it. That act of selflessness and always wanting to make things better for people stuck with me. I also remember your support and encouragement when I was making plans to travel to Canada for my post graduate studies. You were also influential in getting me a job at Standard Chartered in Ibadan.

Just as Abraham Lincoln said ‘’In the end, it’s not the years in your life that counts. It is the life in your years’’. Though your time here on earth was brief, yet you impacted so many lives positively and in particular you played a very positive role in my life which I will be grateful for.I will miss you greatly Uncle and though it is sad and painful, I choose to celebrate the life you lived and the positive impact you made.

Good night Uncle….❤️❤️❤️

ID brother Mi, you are such a very very lovely fine handsome man! Words fail me, you were at mum’s 79th birthday in January 2018. As humble and quiet as you are, I could not even recollect seeing you there. Neither could I even recollect taking pictures with you beside me and behind me. Pictures don’t lie - I have to post them. You look so happy, always smiling and no any mean bone in your body whatsoever. A very rare gem - heaven truly gained an angel. ID I sure know that you are a very special one and your passing onto Glory will leave a massive void in the lives of mummy Salami, your wife, your children, your brothers, your in-laws, your nieces, nephews, your family, friends and colleagues at Ideas House. I pray that God forgives your short comings and grant you eternal rest IJMN Amen! Love you Bro Mi ❤️

Uncle ID, I am still in shock and disbelief. I am grateful to God for whom He made you to be. Thank you for always being you. I am hurt because you didn't get to meet my daughter. I know God has you and that is my consolation. Till we see again, keep resting in God.

Words fail me when I heard the devastating News ,still shocked to accept the fact that my boss is really gone, he was not just a boss to me ,he stood as a father to my children in gifts and in cash, not making them miss their Dad. Even has a boss he's the best I have ever worked with so generous so jovial so fatherly.
  An icon to the core.
I remember the first time I met him in a political meeting where he was introduced to us as our next federal honourable . He was so humble in introducing himself. Then I was appointed the woman leader for his political team Called "ISCO" , under APC.
He so wonderful to the team. Making finacial provision for the team every now and then..
He will always call and ask "Adigun ! How's is the team? Is there anything you need, please always inform me"
A great boss, An icon.
Even when he was denied the ticket that he was qualified for, by our former Late senator Biola Ajimobi he still kept the team going making all the necessary provisions available.

I also remember the time I was homeless my landlord threw us out of the apartment leaving me and my children stranded. One of my kids happen to be hospitalized that same time too. Finiacially I was stranded too. His call happen to come in that moment, he said something is wrong what happen I explained to him . He drove to the hospital where we were that night , paid all the hospital expenses, lodged us in an hotel for six days, surprisingly to crown it all gave us free accommodation till today. He is a good man very good man, he sends my children money in school every now and then.

During every festive period he gives money and foodstuffs to his political team , group and everyone around him.
He is A Rare gem.
He's not one of the best.
He is the Best.
My boss left so soon.
We love him
But God loves him the most.

Adieu Honourable Idowu salami Ajibola
Rest in peace.

Writing a befitting tribute for Idowu is arguably the toughest process I've ever had to endure. Words alone cannot do justice to remember the most courteous, caring, loving, obedient, handsome, smart, intelligent with an uncommon sense of humor gentleman that touched so many with his selfless giving skills that makes one to wonder if he is actually human after all.
Idowu was a perfect gentleman. He was not one of the best, he was "simply the best" no matter the evaluation category.

ID, I never knew your life journey will be so incredibly short. I feel so empty inside. You were matured beyond your years. You were my go to person for problem analysis, solution options and of course banter everytime I needed a lift. So witty, so smart. Never a dull moment. You were the fabric soul that held the Salami Brothers Group together. The list goes on and on.

I am so deeply pained by your untimely demise but consoled by the fact that I'm convinced you are with your creator.
I love you bro and pray you continue to rest in peace until we meet again.

To the man that gave my mum and my siblings shelter . A roof over our heads, to the man that is not just a boss to my mum, but a father to me and junior ones, putting smiles on our faces not making us lack fatherly care or miss our biological Dad. A Jovial man, very generous. I call you Daddy because you are one to me. It breaks my heart anytime I realize, you left early to Glory. I have a lot of questions to ask God. But God is mighty unquestionable, I will miss you alot Daddy. My siblings will. It breaks me to finally type the word. But, Rest in peace. God loves you more. And he will console your family. Rip . Sir IDOWU SALAMI.

His Life

Idowu (ID) Salami

February 9, 2021
Early Years
Idowu Salami was born on the 28th Day of January 1974 to the late Chief Olalekan Sanusi Salami & Chief Mrs Ayodele Salami. ID as he was fondly called was the last born of his mother and as expected, the apple of her eyes.

Education
He started his primary school at Maryhill Convent School Ibadan and thereafter proceeded to the United Kingdom where he studied at Shoreham College Sussex as well as Dover College, Dover Kent. Idowu was an outstanding scholar with brilliant personality. At Dover College, he became a house captain and school prefect, a role he performed with great poise and character. He led by example and was always a motivator to the younger ones. He had an exemplary ability to carry everyone along and was always proud of his heritage Nigeria, so much so that he refused to obtain any other international passport even though he was eligible for both British and Canadian citizenship.

At Dover College, Idowu sat for both his GCSE and A-Level exams passing with distinction. He was clearly the brightest of all the children gaining admission to the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE) to study Economics and Financial Modelling.

Career
As testament to his talent and character, his career spanned across several organizations over the past 25years, namely, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Standard Chartered Bank, AXX Energy and Ideas House Marketing Communications Ltd as Executive Director Operations and Client Services. Idowu's contribution to the growth of Ideas House is unmatched and unrivalled. He led the agency to win several pitches leading from the front with his brilliant ideas and strategic thoughts. In recent times, he has helped the agency champion a new technology led ecosystem, birthing two amazing applications which are at an advanced stages of commencement.

Idowu is the founder and owner of Oliver’s Café, a business he built from scratch employing several youths, giving hope to many. The business is well over five years old with Google A rating, clearly a destination point in the Ibadan hospitality circuit.

Personal Life

Idowu was happily married to the love of his life, Busola and their marriage is blessed with two children, Oluwadanikanse and Naomi.

ID is a consummate professional, very patient, deep in thought and highly God-fearing. In 2019, he decided to take a shot at the Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives seat in his bid to help the masses and bring much needed development to his dear state, Oyo. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry out this task as his party APC refused to hold primaries thereby denying him an enviable opportunity to fly the party’s ticket in the election. Undaunted, he stood his ground refusing to be compromised even in the face of adversity.

On the 6th day of February, he took his last breathe and subsequently bid us farewell. He will be sorely missed.

TRIBUTE: UNCLE IDOWU SALAMI (Olamide Akinnuoye)

February 18, 2021

“I love you”

This was the last thing I had said to my Uncle Idowu. It was his birthday.

No one has the words to describe the shock, the pain,
and the hurt of losing our uncle, husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Uncle Idowu’s LIFE was brilliant, beautiful, and wonderful! Full of laughter and delicious food that he was so skilled at cooking! I will also never forget your big & bright smile Uncle!!!
Uncle ID’s life must be celebrated by all of us!

Yet we must also hold near Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are they that mourn,
for they shall be comforted.”

Now though we mourn knowing that God blesses us through the tears, we are not in despair like the world, who mourn endlessly without hope, because we know that we will see you soon Uncle in Glory! I am so excited for that!

We wait with expectation.
We thank God for your life
Uncle Idowu!
Well I guess that’s all for now,

See you soon!

In Jesus name,
Amen.

Since getting the dreaded phone call on Feb 6, 2021 informing me of your passing, it has been like a bad dream from which I was hoping to wake up. Writing this tribute makes reality dawn on me and it is finally time to accept and say good bye dear uncle

Forever missed
