His Life

Idowu (ID) Salami

February 9, 2021
Early Years
Idowu Salami was born on the 28th Day of January 1974 to the late Chief Olalekan Sanusi Salami & Chief Mrs Ayodele Salami. ID as he was fondly called was the last born of his mother and as expected, the apple of her eyes.

Education
He started his primary school at Maryhill Convent School Ibadan and thereafter proceeded to the United Kingdom where he studied at Shoreham College Sussex as well as Dover College, Dover Kent. Idowu was an outstanding scholar with brilliant personality. At Dover College, he became a house captain and school prefect, a role he performed with great poise and character. He led by example and was always a motivator to the younger ones. He had an exemplary ability to carry everyone along and was always proud of his heritage Nigeria, so much so that he refused to obtain any other international passport even though he was eligible for both British and Canadian citizenship.

At Dover College, Idowu sat for both his GCSE and A-Level exams passing with distinction. He was clearly the brightest of all the children gaining admission to the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE) to study Economics and Financial Modelling.

Career
As testament to his talent and character, his career spanned across several organizations over the past 25years, namely, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Standard Chartered Bank, AXX Energy and Ideas House Marketing Communications Ltd as Executive Director Operations and Client Services. Idowu's contribution to the growth of Ideas House is unmatched and unrivalled. He led the agency to win several pitches leading from the front with his brilliant ideas and strategic thoughts. In recent times, he has helped the agency champion a new technology led ecosystem, birthing two amazing applications which are at an advanced stages of commencement.

Idowu is the founder and owner of Oliver’s Café, a business he built from scratch employing several youths, giving hope to many. The business is well over five years old with Google A rating, clearly a destination point in the Ibadan hospitality circuit.

Personal Life

Idowu was happily married to the love of his life, Busola and their marriage is blessed with two children, Oluwadanikanse and Naomi.

ID is a consummate professional, very patient, deep in thought and highly God-fearing. In 2019, he decided to take a shot at the Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives seat in his bid to help the masses and bring much needed development to his dear state, Oyo. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry out this task as his party APC refused to hold primaries thereby denying him an enviable opportunity to fly the party’s ticket in the election. Undaunted, he stood his ground refusing to be compromised even in the face of adversity.

On the 6th day of February, he took his last breathe and subsequently bid us farewell. He will be sorely missed.
