‘’To Know and feel all this and not have the words to express it makes a human a grave of his own thoughts.’’ – John Donne

These poignant words encapsulate the quandary I face as I attempt to craft a tribute for the man I came to know and affectionately called “Daddy.”

I am grateful to God who in His providence, caused me to be your last child and thereby afforded me the privilege of seeing the blossoming of the full spectrum of your life and the wisdom of your old age. You were a beacon of light, a fine gentleman, an embodiment of discipline, and a carousel of love.

In your trail-blazing quest for excellence and equity, for over five decades, you courageously advocated for the cause of justice and upheld the rule of law. You towered over the hallowed legal profession in Nigeria as a luminary and successfully established a legal dynasty. In your words Daddy, you once eloquently declared, ‘’I have used law as an instrument for effective social engineering perfectly well’’. Indeed, the portals of history are replete to give validity to this noble assertion. As adeptly noted by Abraham Lincoln ‘’Law is nothing else but the best reason of wise men applied for ages to the transactions and business of mankind.’’

Daddy, your memory is an invaluable treasure etched into our hearts. We shall forever cherish the legacy you’ve left behind.

I love and miss you, Daddy.

To God Be the Glory!

TRIBUTE TO MY DAD

My dad, My dad, Oh my dad! My dad was our hero. I have so much to say about my wonderful dad. I'm so grateful to God that He gave me loving father like my dad.

I'm super thankful to God that I got to see him more often the last month of his life on earth.

Growing up with a Father like mine was special, My dad had such a popular and wonderful name that everywhere I went, especially within Edo state, as soon as my surname is mentioned, they would be someone there that knows my dad or has heard of him, from my primary school days even unto the university and beyond that name would open doors for me and grant me favor in the sight of many even them that have never met him, and also put me in the spot. I used to have this teacher in secondary school that whenever I misbehaved in class he would say “Okeaya-inneh! your father is a SAN” and that became a popular saying even amongst my classmates.

So having such a high-principled man as my dad would keep me in check especially around those who held him in high esteem in order to live up to expectation. I'm grateful to God for that, for my upbringing, for the discipline he gave us every one of us growing up, I'm grateful to God for the open doors and favor that I get because I bear my dad’s name, and I believe not just we the children have benefited from that but also many of our relatives that bear the Okeaya-inneh name have also benefited from the grace that my dad had developed in that name.

I'm very thankful for the love and respect he had for pastors and ministers of God. My dad was our superhero, whenever anybody would give us much stress outside, it was comforting having somebody that we could tag and call on and my dad would be there in few minutes no matter where he was, he would show up like a lion to deliver us from any trouble. My dad was a blessing, he was our protector and defender.

We are comforted that he was a good Christian, a good man, a wonderful father, wonderful husband and that he's with the Lord right now and we will meet him again on the day of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that the dead in Christ will rise first then we who are alive shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air. I love you so much daddy! Shalom

Tribute to Daddy

*In Loving Memory of My Dad*

Time has passed since you departed, and not a day goes by without feeling the void you've left behind. Daddy, words can't capture the depth of respect I have for you. You were more than a father; you were a source of wisdom and strength. You instilled in me the core values of Justice, Truth, and Hard work, lessons etched indelibly into my being. Though you may be physically absent, your spirit remains with us in the cherished moments, in the values you instilled, and in the love that transcends time. I am grateful for the time we had together, and I will carry your memory in my heart.

Rest in peace, Dad. Your legacy stands resolute, an everlasting testament to a life well lived.

My dearest dad, though now gone from my sight, your loving spirit remains imprinted on my heart. You taught me how to live with kindness, courage and joy.
You raised me up so I can stand on mountains; you raised me up so I can be me, independent, believe in myself, pass through the storms of life and not be shaken by whatever comes my way.
All the morals and values you taught me has moulded me and is still moulding me for greatness. I couldn't ask for a better father. You were real and genuine. A fine gentleman I ever knew.
Objectivity
Dad, your clarity and logic amaze me. You have this innate ability to look at any situation with a clear, rational mind. It’s like you have a built-in decision-making machine that operates at lightning speed.
Discipline
You’re the living embodiment of discipline. I mean, who else can stick to a routine like you? Every day, you move through life with a precision that amazes me. It’s a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence.
My Hero
Life hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve seen you go through some tough times. It broke my heart to see you in pain, but those moments of vulnerability showed me the true strength of our family. You led us through those storms, a true commander-in-chief, with Mom by your side.

Definition of success
One of the greatest lessons you’ve taught me, Dad, is that success should come from within. It’s not about proving anyone wrong or seeking validation from others. It’s about finding happiness, peace, and joy in the things we do. Your words echo in my soul and guide me every single day.

Generosity
Your friendships are something special.
You give without expecting anything in return, and that’s a rare quality.

I strive to honor you through how I live my own life, keeping your gentle soul evergreen.
Adieu papa....

AFRICAN BISCUITS

January 9
Osaro Eghobamien
Download
"In the summer of 2003, a coincidental holiday gathering brought the two families together in London. Sir Alfred extended an invitation, and during this event, KS presided over the naming ceremony of Orobosa, Osaro Eghobamien's daughter. Both Sir Alfred and KS cracked jokes repeatedly to the admiration of the guests, exhibiting the Benin tradition with pride and exuberance. His camaraderie with Sir Alfred shone as they continuously entertained all guests present. At the event, KS distributed what he enjoyed to call “African biscuits”. Amusingly, one of the guests took this name too literally, and as one would do to a biscuit, put the entire kola nut in her mouth at a go! Naturally, she was quick to spit it all out immediately. The drama was remarkable with KS and Sir Alfred making great and excitable fun at the (good-natured) expense of the guest. This incident highlighted the warm and enjoyable relationship between the two families."
