TRIBUTE TO MY DAD
My dad, My dad, Oh my dad! My dad was our hero. I have so much to say about my wonderful dad. I'm so grateful to God that He gave me loving father like my dad.
I'm super thankful to God that I got to see him more often the last month of his life on earth.
Growing up with a Father like mine was special, My dad had such a popular and wonderful name that everywhere I went, especially within Edo state, as soon as my surname is mentioned, they would be someone there that knows my dad or has heard of him, from my primary school days even unto the university and beyond that name would open doors for me and grant me favor in the sight of many even them that have never met him, and also put me in the spot. I used to have this teacher in secondary school that whenever I misbehaved in class he would say “Okeaya-inneh! your father is a SAN” and that became a popular saying even amongst my classmates.
So having such a high-principled man as my dad would keep me in check especially around those who held him in high esteem in order to live up to expectation. I'm grateful to God for that, for my upbringing, for the discipline he gave us every one of us growing up, I'm grateful to God for the open doors and favor that I get because I bear my dad’s name, and I believe not just we the children have benefited from that but also many of our relatives that bear the Okeaya-inneh name have also benefited from the grace that my dad had developed in that name.
I'm very thankful for the love and respect he had for pastors and ministers of God. My dad was our superhero, whenever anybody would give us much stress outside, it was comforting having somebody that we could tag and call on and my dad would be there in few minutes no matter where he was, he would show up like a lion to deliver us from any trouble. My dad was a blessing, he was our protector and defender.
We are comforted that he was a good Christian, a good man, a wonderful father, wonderful husband and that he's with the Lord right now and we will meet him again on the day of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that the dead in Christ will rise first then we who are alive shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air. I love you so much daddy! Shalom
