I met Major in high school. I’ll never forget my first adventure together with him and Scott Lepak. They convinced me one late night it was a great idea to drive for 8 hours from the Bay Area down to San Diego just to go surfing for the day.

We became good friends and had many memorable moments skateboarding and snowboarding. I can honestly say that Major was one of the funniest, intelligent and creative people I’ve know.

He was an exceptional friend and I will miss him dearly.

I’m so glad I had the chance to reconnect with my cousin Major in recent years! It was if we’d been hanging out all of our lives. He was just like the cutie pie I remember swimming with in our grandparents pool.Major had grown into a handsome and integrity filled man who was open, fun, and very loving.I will cherish the little time we spent together.
So much love to Anna and all who loved him. You will be dearly missed.

I met Major at around 14 yrs old through mutual friends, Thomas Jernigan and Scott Lepak. We all loved skateboarding and bonded over that. When Major returned to Martinez for High School we became even closer friends, started surfing together, listening to Reggae music, and chasing girls. What good times we had. Anna is right, Major had an infectious personality that would grow on you as you got to know him better. We've continued our friendship over the years and I always appreciated Major being a genuine person with me. Love you forever Major!

Major was my brother, best friend and favorite person in the world.

He loved adventure was handsome intelligent, very hip, styling, quick witted and hilarious. He loved everybody he met, was spiritual, kind and liked to get in touch with source energy especially when meditating and surfing.

He surfed all over the world, had dreadlocks once, was creative and directed videos that won awards at Sundance film festival.

He appreciated the finer things in life, like cars and motorcycles. He was loved by anyone who met him. I might be a little biased but I bet 94.5% of his friends agree with me on this, (let me know in the comments what you think the percentage is). but, he had tons of friends and felt things deeply.

He was a Rockstar and lover of life. I will miss Major more than words can say but I know Major will be with me in spirit forever. I love you Maj, Godspeed.

My first memory of Major was when he walked into Mrs Schaefer’s English classroom as a new transfer student. He brought his charm, movie star like presence and the cool name to match. I know I speak for many of my female classmates, when I say, he was a sight to behold, a sweet being and a class act, not to mention mega talented and bright.

My last time seeing him in person was at a reunion I crashed last minute. Major looked as elegant as ever, classing-up the place. He was still connected with the same friends, which shows loyalty, dedication and how some can elevate friendship into “a fine art”.  He and his surf, motorcycle, skateboard buddies were the coolest guys in school. They were so Point Break, even before Point Break.

I last “spoke” with Major a year ago, via social media, while living in Oregon and trying to get in touch with a mutual friend. Major followed and was connected online with my older brother, Danny, which I thought was adorable. Anyway, Major was kind and forwarded my information.  Our mutual friend called me later that night. He did not have to do that for me, but he did. Besides sharing mutual friends, we were never close, nor did we know each other all that well. Grateful to him, I sent a follow up message to thank him and we had another nice exchange.

I will never forget the junior high English class Heartthrob. He was a rare gem. I was very sad and shocked to hear of his passing. Still am. My heart goes out to his sister, his family and best friends.
I met Anna Lightner in 1992.. we met in an art class at Portland Community College. We became fast friends and I am proud to call Anna one of my best friends to this day. I had heard many stories about her brother Major, but did not have the opportunity to meet him until Covid hit around 2021 when he moved to Portland to live with Anna, and I was honored to meet him in the few times that I met him. He was nothing but polite and respectful and very authentic and I wish that I’d been able to have more conversations with him. All I can say is I’m so sorry for his untimely death and the devastation and heart ache that has occurred for Anna and her family.  Rest in peace Major.  May love and light surround you❤️❤️
