My dearest Grandmother,
No matter what you always held a very special place it my heart. You were always so loving and sweet. You made me a crocheted blanket when I was 16 and it has been on my bed ever since. I know how much you loved David and I. You always made us our favorite cakes for our birthdays. Every fish we caught was the biggest fish you had ever seen, and let me tell you no one can cook fish like you. My favorite thing to do with you was watch the hummingbirds. We would sit still and wait as long as I could to see them. If I got a splinter you were there with the tweezer and antiseptic ready to doctor me up! I’m saddened that so much time was lost. I will always love you my dear grandmother.

A very sad notice, indeed. We are very sorry, dear friends Roy and family. I was very lucky to meet María when I was a secretary to the Spanish Military Attaché in Washington, D.C. (1969-1974). A very, very efficient assistant to the Attaché handling all matters pertaining to protocol. I have a few anecdotes, but let me tell you this one: On one occasion, as I arrived to the office, I told her: "María, I have a very good news to give you." She said: "Tell me, tell me." I said: "I have won the lottery and I don´t know what to do with such amount of money." She asked: "How much? How much?" I said: "Three dollars." She almost fainted. Then, we both burst laughing. María, a real kind lady. R.I.P.

Maria was my co-worker at the Military Attaché's Office, Embassy of Spain, for many years. She took me under her wing and guided me when I first started my job there. Her kind and content personality, as well as her prompt disposition to do her work, was her trademark. I was really lucky to have such a great example to follow.
I will always be grateful to Maria for so many things that I learned from her, but above all, I will always thank her generosity towards my four children, especially when my marriage fell apart. At Christmas time, she would shower my family with beautiful and lovely gifts that always put a smile in my kids' faces and made them so happy. I will never forget her Christmas and birthdays cards; she really spread love and kindness to everyone she knew.
My heart ached when I learned of her passing, but I know that she is now resting in God's loving arms.
I love you, Maria, and until we meet again! Thanks for being a great friend!

Maria was my neighbor in the early 1960’s in Asmara, Ethiopia. She has remained my friend all these years. We had maids so we had time to have fun together. Was so Blessed that she and Roy drove over two hours to meet me for dinner when I was in VA a few years ago. Even tho we lived miles apart, she remained in my heart. Thoughts and prayers for entire family

Teresa and Mr. Perry,
So sad to hear about Mrs. Perry, she was always so gracious to Tim and I. So many fond thoughts of the entire Perry Family growing up, from the trips to Drum Point, to playing in our neighborhood. I hope Tony, David and families ( and of course Teresa and Mr. Roy) are doing well. Hopefully one day soon we can all get together. Thoughts and prayers to you all,
Tom Storey

We have nothing but loving memories of Maria (and the Perry family) when we lived on Centerhill Street. They were the kind of neighbors one hopes to have. We really missed them when we moved away. We have enjoyed keeping in touch with Christmas cards over the years. Maria would always send us the news and updates on her family and we would do the same.
As Christians, we know that she is with our Lord and that we will see her again.
Our prayers now are for the Comfort that only the Lord can provide for Roy, Teresa, and the rest of the Perry family. God Bless you.
Love,
Lorraine and Steve Birkett

My name is Angela (Sorbello) Handlin. I first met the Perry family in Asmara, Ethiopia where the then Chief (SKC USN) Perry was stationed. He was the chief in charge of the Navy Supply Department at Tract A, Kagnew Station. The Supply Office was my first job after graduating from High School.
Every once in a while, the Office used to have a social get-together. On one of those occasions, Maria played Spanish music on her guitar. Never in my life had I seen anyone playing guitar the way she played that day! The passion, strength and love she displayed were amazing. I was at awe at the sound of "Granada" and those moments of fiery music are etched in my mind as one of my best memories of her.
Play your guitar in Heaven Maria and make God smile like you made my heart smile at that wonderful music you played that day!
You and your music are going to be missed!
