His Life

The Life of Bob Hedglin

March 2, 2021
Bob was born in Cairo, NE to Claude and Helen in 1927.  His sister June was born in 1928 but died in infancy.  Donna Jean was born a few years later.  Claude was a farmer in Nebraska and eventually moved his family to Dupont, Colorado around 1940.  Bob graduated from Adams City High School and went immediately to the service of his country.  It was during World War II.  He served on a cargo ship.  When he returned after the war he worked with his father at the Foundry in Commerce City.  He married and Bob and his wife had two sons, Lon and Buz.  Bob was a hunter and fisherman.  He and his son Lon explored the mountains.  I think they knew every mountain road in Colorado

Bob and I met when we both worked for Adams County School District.  We married in 1982.  Together we worked toward retirement and helped my children find their way to their adult lives.  After the children were grown Bob and I did a lot of traveling, mostly in Colorado.  We traveled to Nebraska each year around Memorial Day to visit the graves of his parents and grandparents.

We went to Hawaii in 2000 with his sister and husband Dick.  We went to Oahu and visited Pearl Harbor and we explored Diamond Head which was amazing.  We always wanted to plan a cruise to Alaska and also a trip to Maine in the Fall.  We ran out of time.  Life is short.
