MaVie was a special lady in many ways. She was beautiful, very kind, always cheerful and a nurturing mother, not only to her own children but all those other kids like myself. She lived a full life, always sharing and caring. She made a difference to so many lives and will be missed. Sleep peacefully and may light perpetually shine on her.❤

Mrs. Heath was one of the most lovely people I have ever known. I grew up leaving very close to her and she was the kind of neighbor you would dream of. It would be such a treat for me to visit her welcoming home when I was a little girl and I continued to feel that warmth as I grew older. I absolutely loved Mr and Mrs. Heath, their warm and kind nature is something I have never forgotten.
She was always able to effortlessly give me attention and priority as she did to all around her. Her yummy baking, that fun laugh, her love for flowers and her commitment to friends, family and church are some of the wonderful memories I hold of her. I thank God for blessing her with a long life. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

Thanks for the Post.
Fr. Phillip McKenzie and the Holy Name of Jesus Church Council thank the Heath family for the financial contribution. Mrs. Viola Heath gave her life to the Catholic Church and it's growth and we are very grateful for her.
Mr. Leslie Heath was also a devoted Catholic. We thank God for both their lives. May their souls and the souls of all the Faithful departed through the Mercy of God rest in Peace and may light perpetual shine on them.

MaVie was one of my favorite memories.

My second mother as I grew up. The best Ice Box maker in the world. As a child that was where I spent a significant part of my life, As my mother traveled to the States, that was my second home , as an only child, that was my second family, that is where I learned to get into mischief and to be a child.

Thank you MaVie for all your life lessons and for helping to shape me into the woman I am today.

I am not sad because of your passing because I know you are with "PaVie", (my name) and I know you were ready but I am truly sad that I because of the restrictions of Covid19, I am not able to be there. I am not able to give back a little, by being a part of the planning.

To all the Heath clan, I know that your haven is no longer there, but remember that MaVie's God is always there and He will stand beside you every day.

A wise man once said " They only die when you forget". I am confident she will be watching over each of you forever.

I thank you for all your love and care.
Looking forward to meeting you again one day in the future.

Love
Raffie

My Grandmother, known to many as MaVie but GrandMa to me, was my everything. My Grandparents gave me a sense of who I am and where I come from. Not a day goes by where I don’t thank God for blessing me with my GrandMa for so many years. I would tell GrandMa that she has to live twenty more years and she would kiss her teeth and tell me not to wish that for her. Then she would giggle and give that little, “under her breath”, laugh. GrandMa was generous, thoughtful, no nonsense, and had a great sense of humor. We all got our love of laughter from her.

She was my protector, my constant, my comfort, my peace. It is impossible to put into words what she meant to me. I have so many memories of summers spent together in Jamaica with her and my Grandfather, going to the market, to the beaches, and visiting friends and family. I was very content just “hanging out” with them, even though they would often try to find me playmates and things to do. I just loved being around them. I enjoyed sitting in her kitchen, with her, listening to the radio on quiet afternoons. We all enjoyed everything that she made in her kitchen and she found joy in listening to us all laugh and talk as we enjoyed the food and deserts that she made.

I remember my Grandmother tending to me when I was sick or hurt and reluctantly having to take her “old wives” remedies and concoctions. Her remedies always worked! I also remember her shushing me in church when I talked too much. GrandMa taught me so many valuable life lessons of always thinking and caring for others, not just oneself. She taught me that fostering relationships with people is important. Their home in Crescent Park was literally a welcome mat. Her most important lesson was that of cultivating a strong faith in God. She loved her church. Having a relationship with God gives one the foundation necessary to endure the ups and downs of life. My Grandparent’s life together was a true testament of faith and family. I treasure every moment I spent with GrandMa and GrandPa, and I am so grateful to have had them play such an influential part of my life.

Although I am sad to see GrandMa go, I take great comfort knowing she is with GrandPa.
I love you GrandMa. I miss you terribly
Love Kathy

“Memories of a life well lived”

January 6, 2021
  1. Mrs. Heath, affectionately called Ma Vie, lived a long, beautiful, respected and respectful life. My memories of her, takes me back to my childhood days - of the strong friendship both her and Mr. Heath shared with my grandparents - Florence and Alexander (Mice) Garrick. She was a consummate Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Homemaker - cooking the most delicious meals and baking the most mouth-watering pastries. Now you know where her children got their passion for cooking and baking from.

Ma Vie was elegant, caring, kind ( especially to the less fortunate) and had the most- infectious laugh ever - at times, a giggle or a chuckle - “her signature style”). However, she was also a no nonsense individual. She always had a baked treat, served along with a homemade beverage most of the time, to offer you, whenever you visited with her. From childhood days to my adult life, I loved to visit her, because as a “Sweet-tooth” person - I knew I would delighted by her treats. My late husband, after meeting her over 30 years ago and was treated to her delicious Christmas Cake and Pudding, immediately declared, “ as of now, Mrs. Heath must always bake my Birthday Cakes”. She did so with pleasure and religiously. If I didn’t call her by mid December, to place my order, she would call and say, “Judith, are you ordering Eddie’s cake” and I would say, “of course”. This went on every year up until about 10 years ago - when she was no longer able to do so.  Eddie “transitioned”, approximately one month after, her 90th Birthday Celebration, at which we were both guests.

Ma Vie, you will surely be missed. However, you have left behind an exemplary legacy for all your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, associates and friends to bask in and try to emulate.

I am happy and privileged to have been able to witness your beautiful farewell service, in this deadly COVID19 era, which prohibits large gatherings.

May your soul find eternal rest with the Lord, as you meet up with Pa Les, to catch up on, where you both left off. The inseparable bond and laughter will start all over again!

REST IN PEACE Ma Vie❤️
